It is becoming increasingly clear that AI technology will play a key role in any given industry in the future. We are already using artificial intelligence to generate data for our various projects. We feel that with this technology, we have stepped into an exciting future, and its application is a key factor in enhancing our creative process.
We see AI technology as a crucial tool in speeding up the development process to deliver our game as soon as possible. AI will be used to generate landscapes for the entire Victoria VR world. Additionally, it will be implemented in the creation of environments for our mini games. Instead of the game consistently taking place in the same environment, AI will transform the setting each time the game is played, creating a more dynamic and unique experience for the player.
AI is an exciting tool in order for us to build our world, but also for the player once they are inside this world. By using specific coding with ChatGPT for example, the players will have the ability to adjust their environment, further speeding up the game and development process. As this makes our job easier and faster, it also makes the experience of the player more dynamic and interesting, as they will have a first-hand opportunity to create and adjust their world to their liking.
These same concepts will also be applied to quests. The game will be constantly transformed with new levels being created, which will prolong the momentum so that the player does not finish right away. Another exciting application of AI is the generation of NPC behavior. These characters will be living their own life outside of the game, meaning they will learn the player’s patterns through the story line, which will give them the ability to react to how the player feels based on their past actions. Using AI in these different fields, we will no longer waste unnecessary time generating content, making our games limitless in possibilities and outcomes.
We have already experimented with AI technology for several different projects. The first of those is Voice Recognition. AI technology uses a written server to take a voice recording from a game and convert it from the Oculus microphone to a WAV format, and then stores it. Additionally, we used AI for Sign Recognition. Here the player draws a line using Unreal Engine, which is sent to AI software. The lines that are drawn are then converted into a sign and AI points out to which sign it is. We are looking forward to continuing this experimentation as we develop our games.
In the upcoming weeks we are releasing our AI gallery, which is comprised of artworks completely generated by artificial intelligence. The theme of the exhibition is a showcase of AI’s perception of the history and development of the Victoria universe, considering the human relationship to this process. The first part focuses on nature, exhibiting moving images that focus on microorganisms and the development of life. Then the exhibition showcases a story of human development, starting from prehistoric tribes and evolving into cities of the future. The final section of the gallery shows a visual representation of space and the end of the universe, with a conclusion suggesting the beginning of the metaverse. Users will be able to generate AI art in the form of NFTs.
The model that was used to generate these artworks is called disco diffusion, where a user provides a textual description of the scene they want to generate. This can be a sentence or a few paragraphs, describing the objects, colours, lighting, and other relevant details. The result is an image that is progressively refined to match the desired scene. We decided to invest our time in creating our AI gallery because we wanted to explore the possibilities created by the disco diffusion model. What resulted was a fascinating virtual experience for the viewer, as well as a clear example of the benefits of AI technology. AI art allows us to explore new forms of creativity and expression. By using machine learning algorithms, artists can create a work that goes beyond the limitations of human imagination, pushing the boundaries of traditional art forms. Although our writers are currently creating the Victoria VR World story, we have always had the intention that AI will continue writing the story and eventually finish it.
We can’t wait to continue this momentum, and to continue testing how AI will revolutionize the way that we develop and play VR games. We expect all limitations to vanish as we observe AI’s capability to expand what we previously thought was possible.
